Sedwick sale 27. lot 663

This specimen was lot 663 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 27 (Winter Park, FL, May 2020), where it sold for $3,332. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bogota, Colombia, cob 8 reales, 1655, assayer PoRS, rare, PCGS XF40. Bold full pillars-and-waves with full and bold PoRS to left and 1655 to right (both vertical), mintmark oNR in middle and PLVS / VL/ TRA above, bold full shield (somewhat crude, as made) on other side, nicely toned around details. PCGS #39227632. Pedigreed to the Nueva Granada Collection (stated on label)." This type was struck intermittently 1651-65.
