Goldberg sale 72, lot 5623

This specimen was lot 5623 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $575. The catalog description^[2] noted, "German States - Schwarzburg. Taler, 1864. Friedrich Gunther. NGC graded MS-62." Despite the tiny mintage, this coin is not especially expensive, suggesting that it was extensively saved. It was issued on the occasion of the prince's fiftieth year of his reign.

Recorded mintage: 4,500 plus proofs.
