Aureo sale 243, lot 689

This specimen was lot 689 in Aureo y Calicó sale 243 (Barcelona, April 2012), where it sold for 220 € (about $332 including buyer's fees). The catalog[1] noted,

"1804. Carlos IV. Madrid. FA. 2 reales. Bellísima pátina. Rara así. EBC/EBC+. (two reales of 1804, Madrid mint. Nice toning, scarce thus, extremely fine to choice extremely fine.)"

It is one of a series minted 1788-1808 for Charles IV. The type is listed quite low in the SCWC but is very hard to find.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, .812 fine silver, .176 troy oz ASW.
