This twenty-five centavos piece was one of a series of coins issued to move Peru into decimal coinage. It replaced the two reales familiar since colonial times and was, in turn, replaced by the quinto de sol. It is relatively uncommon and a one-year issue.

Specification: 6.25 g, 0.0900 silver, 0.1808 ASW.
