This one real was struck in Lima for Peru in 1860. During this transition period, fractionals denominated in reales mixed with those denominated in centavos and centimos. All coinage after 1858 ceased using the "standing liberty" motif and began using the "seated liberty" design. After 1863 the denomination "real" ceased to be minted altho the word "real" was applied to the dinero coin until at least World War One.
