from Stack's Bowers 2017 NYINC sale, lot 6002

This specimen was lot 6002 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $517. The catalog description[1] noted, "ALBANIA. 10 Franga Ari, 1927-R. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. According to the Krause book this issue has a mintage of only 6,000 pieces. Lightly toned." This type was struck for the republic of Albania in 1927 when president Ahmet Zogu, with the help of Italy, attempted to bring financial stability to a war-torn country. Mussolini invaded and occupied the country in 1939.
