This specimen was lot 757 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 26 (Winter Park, FL, November 2019), where it sold for $416.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Santiago, Chile, bust 1 real, Charles IV transitional (bust of Charles III, ordinal IIII), 1791DA, NGC VF 20, finest and only example in NGC census. Attractive light toning all over, broad flan, slightly off-center strike, scarce one-year type." This example, from a type struck 1791 only, realized double the catalog value, reflecting the fact that this is its first appearance in any auction in several years.
Recorded mintage: 20,000 (including KM 36).
