Finland 1878-S 20 markkaa
This specimen was lot 72718 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND. 20 Markkaa, 1878-S. Helsinki Mint. Alexander II. NGC AU-58. A rather pleasing example with limited instances of handling and rich luster throughout, this charming piece is certain to capture attention." This type is listed for 1878 only and was struck to the standard of a French gold ten francs. Later issues (KM 9.2) had a slightly modified eagle.
