Norway 1874 10 kroner
This specimen was lot 3183 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,235 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NORWEGEN, KÖNIGREICH, Oskar II. 1872-1905. 10 Kronen 1874, Kongsberg. 4,03 g Feingold. GOLD. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Norway, Oscar II, 1872-1902, ten kronen of 1874, Kongsberg mint. Scarce, especially in this quality, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This issue is scarce; the next ten kronor would be KM 358 of 1877. Note the dual denomination: 10 kroner = 2½ specie daler. This feature was dropped from later issues.In 1907, Norway obtained a divorce from Sweden and became an independent kingdom under a Danish prince. Even before passing under Swedish rule in 1814, Norway had enjoyed a separate coinage from Denmark.
