Norway 1875 krone
This specimen was lot 1575 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY: Oscar II, 1872-1907, AR krone/30 skilling, 1875, one-year type, Fine to VF, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This is a scarce type yet this date is more available than many of the subsequent type (KM 357) of 1877-1904. Note the dual denomination: 1 krone = 30 skilling. This feature was dropped from later issues. In 1907, Norway obtained a divorce from Sweden and became an independent kingdom under a Danish prince. Even before passing under Swedish rule in 1814, Norway had enjoyed a separate coinage from Denmark.
Recorded mintage: 600,000.
Specification: 7.50 g, 0.800 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM-351.
