Norway 1908 krone

Stack's Bowers November 2022 Collectors Choice sale, lot 75432

This specimen was lot 75432 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "NORWAY. Krone, 1908. Kongsberg Mint. Haakon VII. PCGS AU-58. Crossed hammers on shield variety. A well made near-Mint State example with russet toning and wear at only the highest points." This type was struck in moderate quantities 1908-17. It is fairly common in circulated condition altho the 1908 is a slightly better date.

Recorded mintage: 170,000 with a shield under the cross hammers and 180,000 without.

Specification: 7.5 g, 0.800 fine silver, 31 mm diameter.
