Gelderland 1558 daalder Dav-8492
This specimen was lot 10723 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $558. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPANISH NETHERLANDS. Gelderland. Dalder, 1558. NGC XF-45. Philip II (1556-98). Toned. From the Demarete Collection." This type superseded the previous issue (Dav-8491) by running the date continuous with the legend; the next issue (Dav-8493) deleted "ANG Z REX" (king of England) from the king's titles after the death of his wife, Mary Tudor.
