Sincona sale 39, lot 4087

This specimen was lot 4087 in Sincona sale 39 (Zurich, May 2017), where it sold for 90 CHF (about US$108 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Franz I. 1745-1765 20 Kreuzer 1763. Kremnitz K-B. Fast FDC. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis I, 1745-65, twenty kreuzer of 1763, Kremnitz mint. About uncirculated.)"

Twenty kreuzer were minted 1754-97 for Francis I, Maria Theresia, Joseph II, Leopold II and Francis II from all the imperial mints in a bewilderingly array of varieties. Twenty kreuzer made one-sixth of a thaler. This one, struck for Francis I, is known for 1754-65 from Vienna, Kremnitz (shown here), Prague, Nagybanya and Hall. This date is common.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
