Seychelles 1981 5 cents

This specimen was lot 73593 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $105. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SEYCHELLES. 5 Cents, 1981. Llantrisant Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-66 Gold Shield. FAO issue: World Food Day. Shiny and exceedingly vibrant, this brilliant, brassy Gem radiates with luster and charm, all while being exceeded in the PCGS census by just two other specimens. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." Seychelles, an island group in the Indian Ocean, is better known for its export of cinnamon, copra and vanilla. This commemorative was accompanied by a ten cents (KM 44) promoting fisheries.
