Anhalt-Zerbst 1676-CP 2/3 thaler KM-19.5
This specimen was lot 1293 in Sincona sale 47 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$390 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"GERMANY, Anhalt-Zerbst, Herzogtum, Carl Wilhelm, 1667-1718. 2/3 Taler 1676, Zerbst. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. Leichte Prägeschwäche. (Germany, duchy of Anhalt-Zerbst, Charles William, 1667-1718, 2/3 thaler of 1676, Zerbst mint. Rare in this condition, Uncirculated, Magnificent condition, Slightly weakly struck.)"
Two varieties exist for 1676: KM 16.4 (misaligned date) and KM 16.5 (horizontal date, shown here). Thalers from seventeenth century Anhalt are very rare (we haven't located any for the Wiki) so collectors make do with this denomination, which was roughly equal to a gulden.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 16.40 g.
