Aargau 1814 2 rappen
This specimen was lot 3028 in Sincona sale 64 (Zurich, June 2020), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$251 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Aargau | Kanton, 2 Rappen 1814, Aarau. FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (canton of Aargau, two rappen of 1814, Aarau mint. Uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"
Aargau, a small canton on the Rhine between Zurich and Basel, struck coins until 1831. This type was struck 1808, 1811-16. The monetary system was 4 pfennig = 1 kreuzer, 4 kreuzer = 1 batzen, 10 batzen = 1 franken.
