Sincona sale 95, lot 4207

This specimen was lot 4207 in Sincona sale 95 (Zurich, October 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 1 Sol 1557, Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, Genf. Mzz. E zwischen zwei Flammen. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, one sol of 1557, Geneva mint, mintmark E between two flames. About Extremely Fine.)"

This type was struck 1536-40, 1550-76, 1580-97, and many dates have mintmaster's initials. The 1557 comes with initials E or G. One thaler was 96 sols.
