This specimen was lot 31652 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $1,860. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1782 LM-MI MS61 NGC, Lima mint. Nice strike with light peripheral toning and underlying luster. Not often encountered in a Mint State grade." This is among the more common colonial gold coins of Latin America. Later issues of this type (1785-89) were struck in gold lowered to .875 fine.
