Southern Rhodesia 1941 1/2 crown
This specimen was lot 3682 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $101.15. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTHERN RHODESIA: George VI, 1936-1952, AR ½ crown, 1941, PCGS graded MS62." Rhodesia, named after diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes, was created a self-governing colony of Britain in 1923. Coinage commenced in 1932. The colony was federated with Northern Rhodesia in 1956 but is now Zimbabwe. This type was struck 1938-42 and is not common.
