This specimen was lot 72684 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. 2-1/2 Shillings, 1941. Pretoria Mint. NGC MS-65. The finest in the NGC census, this alluring Gem presents mostly steel gray surfaces with some golden-champagne hues speckled majestically throughout." This type was struck 1937-47. This date is common.
