This type was struck at the Royal Mint for Ireland 1951, 1954-55, 1959-68. It superseded a silver type (KM 15). All dates are common and proofs exist for many dates altho not for 1966. It was worth ten new pence after the decimal conversions and demonetized in 1994. The reverse depicts a salmon, a fish common in Irish rivers.

Recorded mintage: 3,625, 000.

Specification: 11.31 g, copper-nickel, 28.6 mm diameter, designed by Percy Metcalfe.
