Sincona sale 84, lot 254

This specimen was lot 254 in Sincona sale 84 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,900 CHF (about US$2,559 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 5 Kopecks 1821, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB PD. Very rare in this condition. PCGS MS64. Cabinet piece."

This type was struck 1810-26 and is fairly common tho scarcer than the ten or twenty kopeks.

Recorded mintage: 2,000,000.

Specification: 1.03 g, 0.868 fine silver.
