Aureo sale 246, lot 872

This specimen was lot 872 in Aureo y Calicó sale 246 (Barcelona, September 2012), where it sold for 30 € (about US$46 including buyer's fees). The catalog^[1] noted,

"Fernando VII (1808-1833). 1817. Fernando VII. Madrid. GJ. 1/2 real. MBC-. (Ferdinand VII, 1808-33, half real of 1817, Madrid mint. About very fine.)"

The type was struck 1815-33 at Madrid and Seville. It is not rare but scarce in nice condition. Spanish silver of the period was 0.812 fine, compared to 0.896 fine at the Latin American mints.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a somewhat better date.
