Queen Wilhelmina abdicated in 1948 in protest of Dutch colonial policy in Indonesia in favor of her daughter, Juliana, who would rule until 1980. This is the first ten gulden issue since the gold ten gulden ceased in 1933. This denomination was used again in 1973 and 1994-99 for various commemorative issues.
Recorded mintage: 5,980,000 plus 20,000 prooflike specimens plus about 40 proofs.
