Queen Wilhelmina abdicated in 1948 in protest of Dutch colonial policy in Indonesia in favor of her daughter, Juliana, who would rule until 1980. This is the second ten gulden issue since the gold ten gulden ceased in 1933. It marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Juliana's reign. This denomination was first used in 1970 and again 1994-99 for various commemorative issues.
Recorded mintage: 4,505,000 plus 105,750 proofs.
