Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 3206

This specimen was lot 3206 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Shilling, 1925. NGC MS-63. Nice strike." The type was struck 1911-36 at London, Melbourne and Sydney. Though not rare, the price ascends rapidly with grade. An 1925/3 overdate is recorded.

Recorded mintage: 1,448,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, .168 troy oz ASW, 23.5 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by E. B MacKennal and W. H. J. Blakemore.
