This specimen was lot 23628 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Shilling 1927, MS64 NGC, coruscating luster highlights bright surfaces eclipsing to reds and dark blues at the edges. A very choice coin with great eye appeal and scarce in this premium state of preservation." The type was struck 1911-36 at London, Melbourne and Sydney. Though not rare, the price ascends rapidly with grade.
Recorded mintage: 1,146,000 plus 50 proofs, all minted at Melbourne.
Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, .168 troy oz ASW, 23.5 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by E. B MacKennal and W. H. J. Blakemore.
