Sincona sale 85, lot 1051

This specimen was lot 1051 in Sincona sale 85 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 550 CHF (about US$741 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 1/4 Kran (250 Dinars) 1298 AH (1881 AD), Tehran Mint. Rare in this condition. NGC MS63. Magnificent condition. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 55. Finest certified by NGC."

With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. The SCWC lists this for AH 1294-1311 and undated.
