Stack's Bowers October 2020 Collectors Choice sale, lot 72318

This specimen was lot 72318 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Pesos, 1956-Mo. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-64. This alluring near-Gem presents wholly argent surfaces that are free from toning and exhibit an exceptional array of cartwheel luster radiating throughout." This coin was minted in Mexico City to honor Miguel Hidalgo, martyr of the War of Independence. It replaced the silver five pesos of 1951-54. In 1957, it was succeeded by a commemorative for Benito Juarez.
