Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 43360

This specimen was lot 43360 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $456. The catalog description^[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 2 Kopeks, 1869. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. PCGS MS-64 Red Brown." This type was struck 1867-1914 and is common. The early dates, including this one, are priced higher than those after 1900. The Ekaterinburg mint also struck this denomination until its closure in 1876.
