Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 43360

This specimen was lot 43360 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 2 Kopeks, 1869. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. PCGS MS-64 Red Brown." This type was struck 1867-1914 and is common. The early dates, including this one, are priced higher than those after 1900. The Ekaterinburg mint also struck this denomination until its closure in 1876.

Recorded mintage: 643,000.
