This type, struck 1962-1968, shows an Argentinian cowboy (gaucho) obverse. A 150th anniversary issue (1966 10 pesos 150th Anniversary) was also issued this year. The coinage was reformed in 1970, 1983, 1985 and 1992. Argentina was to suffer from bouts of hyperinflation for the next forty years, impoverishing a once prosperous region.

Recorded mintage: 50,733,000.

Specification: nickel-clad steel.

Catalog reference: KM 60.
