This type, struck 1966 only, honors the sesquicentennial of the Argentine declaration of independence from Spain. The regular type, KM 60, was also issued in 1966 and was terminated in 1968. The coinage was reformed in 1970, 1983, 1985 and 1992. Argentina was to suffer from bouts of hyperinflation for the next forty years, impoverishing a once prosperous region.

Recorded mintage: 29,336,000.

Specification: 4.9 g, nickel plated steel, 23 mm diameter.
