Sincona sale 97, lot 2365

This specimen was lot 2365 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 4,750 CHF (about US$6,890 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"UNGARN, Matthias Corvinus, 1458-1490. Goldgulden o. J. (1469), Kremnitz. Kammergraf Paul Bebek. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Das durch PCGS höchstbewertete Exemplar. (kingdom of Hungary, Matthias Corvinus, 1458-90, undated goldgulden, circa 1469, Kremnitz mint. Rare, especially in this condition. PCGS MS64, Finest certified by PCGS.)"

The ducats or florins or goldgulden of Hungary are among the more common gold coins of the late middle ages. This type was struck with multiple mintmarks and assayers' arms.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.53 g.
