Hamburg 1910-J 3 mark

Sincona sale 39, lot 3427

This specimen was lot 3427 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 360 CHF (about US$432 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Hamburg, Hansestadt, 3 Mark 1910 J. Hamburg. Polierte Platte. FDC. NGC PF 64 Cameo. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (free city of Hamburg, three mark of 1910, Hamburg mint. Choice Proof. Magnificent condition.)"

This type is common and was struck 1908-1914; only the proofs are scarce. The Hamburg mint is still in operation, striking coins for the Federal Republic of Germany.

Recorded mintage: 525,500 plus proofs, a common date.

Specification: 16.67 g, 0.900 fine silver, lettered edge, this specimen 15.59 g.
