This specimen was lot 1610 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 13,000 CHF (about US$15,780 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWEDEN. Friedrich I. 1720-1751. 1/2 Riksdaler 1723, Stockholm. Sogenannte Krellmynt. Von grösster Seltenheit. Nur 20 Exemplare geprägt. Fast FDC. NGC UNC Details. Leicht gereinigt. (kingdom of Sweden, Frederick I, 1720-51, half riksdaler of 1723, Stockholm mint, so-called "Krellmynt". Of the highest rarity. Only 20 pieces struck, About uncirculated, Slightly cleaned.)"
This type was struck in tiny quantities 1723-26 and 1733-36. It was the first issue of this denomination in the eighteenth century and was accompanied by a quarter riksdaler (KM 391) and a full riksdaler (KM 395.1).
Recorded mintage: 20 plus 3,363 with initials "GZ".
Specification: 14.62 g, 0.878 fine silver, this specimen 15.09 g.
