This half rupee was struck at the Bombay mint at the beginning of World War Two. This date comes in several varieties, this one being the "small head" type. In 1940, the coin was reduced to 0.500 fine silver and ceased production in 1945.

Recorded mintage: 10,096,000 all varieties.

Specification: 5.83 g, .917 silver, .172 troy oz ASW.
