from Stephen Album sale 41, lot 913

This specimen was lot 913 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $600. The catalog description^[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George VI, 1936-1947, 2 annas, 1939(c), proof restrike, PCGS graded Proof 63." The two annas, originally a silver coin (KM 515), was switched to copper-nickel in 1918. Two annas were struck for George VI 1939-47. The high relief bust, shown here, was struck 1939-40. There is also KM 541 (low relief bust), struck 1939-41.
