Sincona sale 11, lot 1125

This specimen was lot 1125 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 3,400 CHF (about US$4,209 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Kaiserreich Preussen, Königreich Wilhelm II. 1888-1918. 20 Mark 1915, Berlin. Uniform. Gutes vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William II (1888-1918), twenty mark of 1915, Berlin mint, uniformed bust, good extremely fine.)"

This type, issued 1913-15, is common (tho the 1915 is rare) and is a product of the Berlin mint (mintmark "A"). It was accompanied by silver two, three and five mark pieces.

Recorded mintage: 1,271,000.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, .230 troy oz AGW.
