Sincona sale 70, lot 3538

This specimen was lot 3538 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$212 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Solothurn | Stadt und Kanton. Batzen 1793, Solothurn. Gutes vorzüglich. Feine Patina. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, batzen of 1793, Solothurn mint. Good extremely fine, Nicely toned.)"

This type was struck 1766-67, 1788, 1793-97. Four kreuzer = one batzen = 1/40 thaler.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.47 g, billon, 24 mm diameter, this specimen 2.79 g.
