This type was struck for the Philippines 1903-06. The Philadelphia mint issued some every year and the San Francisco mint contributed 1903-05. The 1903 and 1904-S are the common dates, the 1904 shown is rather scarce and the rest are rare. In 1907, the denomination was reduced in weight to 10 grams (KM 171) and a substantial number issued 1907-21. All were demonetized by the Philippine government in the late 1960's when the currency was reformed.
Recorded Mintage: 10,000 plus 1,355 Proofs.
Specifications: 13.48 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge.
