This specimen was lot 75017 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 1/2 Goldgulden, 1754-IAS. Hannover Mint. Georg II August. NGC AU-53. A wholesome sunset-orange example of this uncommon type, exhibiting only mild wear and a pleasing satiny glow. Includes old collector tag." This coin is catalogued as a half goldgulden or one thaler altho the gold ducat was also struck in Hannover in the 1750's (see KM 238, KM 316, KM 317, KM 318, KM 325). The portrait type is listed for 1749-50 and 1754-56. It was accompanied by a quarter (Fr-613), one (Fr-611), two and four goldgulden. The elector George II was also king George II of England.
