The twelfth anna was 1/192th of a rupee and was the smallest denomination struck under the predecimal system. It was struck in moderate numbers throughout the Raj until 1942. The 1939 comes with small head and large head (shown here) varieties. The dot below the date marks this as a product of the Bombay mint.
Recorded mintage: 31,306,000 plus 17,407,000 of the small head variety (KM 526).
