This specimen was part of lot 33320 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), which sold for $493.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George II Four Coin Maundy Set 1740 AU. Youthful portrait of the king. Choice Almost Uncirculated with resplendent luster." Silver pennies of George II were struck for circulation and Maundy sets 1729-60 and are cheaper in high grade than the coppers. The penny was not converted to copper until 1797 and silver pennies are still struck for the Maundy sets.
