This specimen was lot 1086 in Jean Elsen sale 142 (Brussels, September 2019), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,039 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, PADERBORN, Evêché, Ferdinand II von Fürstenberg (1661-1683), AR Taler, 1663. D/ Ecu de l'évêque surmonté de trois heaumes. R/ Saint Meinolf deb. à g., ten. une maquette d'église. A ses pieds, un cerf. Rare Coups sur la tranche. Belle patine. Très Beau. (Germany, bishopric of Paderborn, Ferdinand II of Furstenberg, 1661-83, silver taler of 1663. Obverse: triple-helmeted arms of the bishop; St. Meinolf stands, facing left, holding a church, a deer at his feet. Rare, rim nicks, nice patina, Very Fine.)"
All the thalers of Münster and Paderborn are scarce. The town and the region were thoroughly devastated by the Thirty Years War and never recovered.
