(Germany, bishopric of Paderborn, Ferdinand II von Fürstenberg, 1661-83, thaler of 1668, Neuhaus mint, on his appointment as coadjutor of Münster. Extremely rare, attractive example with handsome patina and two collector's punch marks in the obverse field, very fine or better. The bishop's motto can be found on the back of this piece: SVAVITER ET FORTITER. This is likely a shortened version of the motto SVAVITER IN MODO ET FORTITER IN RE (= Be pleasant in manner but firm in the cause). Ferdinand II of Fürstenberg became bishop of Paderborn on April 20, 1661, coadjutor on July 19, 1667, and bishop of Münster on September 10, 1678.)"
