This specimen was lot 2556 in Goldberg sale 91 (Los Angeles, June 2016), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Australia. 30 Dollar Silver Kookaburras, 1992 Gem Proof. The first of this largest format Silver Kookaburras, containing 1 kilogram of .999 pure silver. 32.15 total ounces. This coin together with the following lot originally belong to Max Baer Jr., the famous American actor played Jethro Bodine on the The Beverly Hillbillies. This lot also includes a signed photo with Max Baer Jr. holding two Silver Kookaburras (this and the following lot). Lot of 2 items. This coin is in Gem Proof condition. Ex: Max Baer Jr. Collection." This monstrous object is a natural marketing extension of the silver one ounce kookaburra, introduced in 1990 (KM 189). Australia also issues a parallel series of one ounce coins featuring kangaroos.

Recorded mintage: unknown "uncirculated" plus 1,000 proofs.

Specification: 1000 g, 0.999 fine silver, 32.15 troy oz AGW, 100 mm diameter.
