This specimen was lot 70285 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. 1/2 Sovereign, 1916-S. Sydney Mint. NGC MS-63. A bright and fully lustrous coin with rich golden color." The half sovereign was minted in a fraction of the quantity of the full sovereign but it must have been saved as it is today common. It was struck for George V 1911-18 at all three Australian mints.

Recorded mintage: 448,000.

Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, 19 mm diameter.
