This specimen was lot 1320 in Goldberg Sale 137 (Los Angeles, January 2024), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "Australia. Sovereign, 1916-S. Weight 0.2355 ounce. George V. Head left. Reverse: St. George and dragon. PCGS graded MS-62. The Highland Estate." This date, from a type struck 1911-31 at Perth, Melbourne and Sydney (shown here), is common.

Recorded mintage: 1,242,000.

Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, .2354 troy oz AGW, 21 mm diameter.
