This specimen was lot 34361 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XV gold Louis d'or aux lunettes 1737-Q MS62 NGC. Perpignan, (Q), mint. Mintage of 2,910 pieces. A boldly struck representation of the type with first rate luster." Paris mint coins tended to be saved more heavily than branch mint products. The type was produced in France 1726-40 with 1726-A being the most frequently encountered date. This specimen features a strongly clashed obverse.

Recorded mintage: 2,910[2].

Specification: 8.16 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22-23 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: Dr/4 № 800, Dr/2 № 540, Gad-340, KM489.17.
