This specimen was lot 129 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 8,250 (about US$10,339 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Grivna 1726, St. Petersburg Mint. Eagle with crosses on the small crowns. Very rare. 8 roubles according to Iljin & 10 roubles according to Petrov. Very fine to extremely fine." This type of 1726-27 is rare. The SCWC notes the fineness was quite variable. The grivennik would not be made in large numbers until the 1740's (KM C16).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 2.66 g, 0.667 fine silver, this specimen 2.35 g.
